A beautiful, simple, whimsical and inviting book giving a child's perspective on tactile defensiveness or sensory processing disorder, a condition that means one is overly sensitive to many touch sensations.
This is a children's book written in the language of a child, and while it does not aim to treat or diagnose the dysfunction it provides comfort and understanding for those of us that live with it. The book is filled with photographs of the author Noreen's daughter engaged in the daily routine of her life, which immediately invites you to empathise with the written description of her challenges. Intended to be an interactive read with your child, each page offers a drawing journal with guiding questions. This provides an opportunity for children to talk about their individual needs.
Most of all the book is inspiring and the first in a series of more to come.

This is a lovely book to share with your child. My little one found it comforting (and surprising) to learn there are other children like her.
I recommend this book to anyone who has a child with SPD.

I bought this book for my daughter who has tactile defensiveness (SPD). This is a FANTASTIC tool to help both her and others understand what she is feeling and why she is behaving the way she does. I cried when I read it ... my daughter kept repeating with a smile "Mummy, she is just like me" about the little girl in the book. HIGHLY recommend to anyone whose child has clothing and tactile defensiveness.
